Ju 87 W.Nr. Question

Does this Ju 87 W.Nr. connect with any known history?

WN: 087018? The last digit "?" is unreadable, so it may be any number.

The plane was built in 1938, with acceptance on 30.3.38.

What model Ju 87 would this have been? Unit? Loss date and location? Any details sought.

Thank you fellow enthusiasts.

Steve

Re: Ju 87 W.Nr. Question

Perhaps the search can be narrowed a bit - do these W.Nr. reveal anything?

0870180

0870186

Thank you again!

Re: Ju 87 W.Nr. Question

Stepen

087018 should be an early A-version
087180/186 ought to be early B-version, if I remember previous correpondance correctly.
Not sure where the A-model stopped and B-version started, but there are those on this list who knows much more...

Cheers
Stig

Thank you Stig. I have since learned that the WN is 0870180. Can anyone say more about this airplane?

Re: Ju 87 W.Nr. Question

Perhaps this image of the main ID plate from Ju 87 WN 0870180 will lead to further information about this airplane. The plate offers its own bits of information for production records. Indications are that it marked the airframe of an A or early B series machine. Added thoughts are welcome . . .

Re: Ju 87 W.Nr. Question

Hi Stephen;

I congratulate you for sharing this plate with the rest of us. Actually helps many with interest in Ju87´s (not my strong point). My first note is absence of F.M. date (suggesting this was replacement plate done after 1942?), but then Baujahr field is like used prewar. Also of note is that only JFM logo appears, not usual Junkers Flugzeugwerke Dessau etc.

I vote for it was an A-2 version from JFM Bernburg. According to my notes, first B- ( 0-series ?) were built in spring/summer 1938. Some old referance states October 1938 for deliveries of the first of B-1 version.

cheers
ed
