Luftwaffe defence St Nazaire
A Lancaster of 460 Squadron was damaged by 1 or 2 Ju 88s on a raid to St Nazaire on 22nd March 1943. At least one of the Ju 88s was thought to have been damaged by return fire from the Lancaster.
Was a specific German nightfighter unit responsible for defence of this region of France at this time? Would KG40 Ju 88s have had a role in night defence of the French coast and U-boat bases? Thanks for any replies. Robert
