26/05/1940 ZG2

Hi !

This unit (using Bf110's) lost his Gruppenkomandeur Johannes Gentzen on 26/05/1940. His plane hit some trees after take-off from Neufchateau airfield. Who was also aboard his plane ? I found 3 names :
Lt.Domeier,Lt.Rosenkranz and Ogefr.Schäffer...

Luc,

Losses to I./ZG2 on 25 may 1940 were as follows:

Stab I./ZG2 Messerschmitt Bf110C. Crashed into trees during emergency take-off during bombing attack on Neufchâteau airfield. Maj J. Gentzen (Gruppenkommandeur) and Lt H-B. Domeier (Gruppenadjutant) killed. Aircraft a write-off.

3./ZG2 Messerschmitt Bf110C. Control surfaces damaged by jettisonned canopy and crashed into truck on landing at Neufchâteau airfield. Obergefr H. Schröter badly injured, died May 27. Aircraft a write-off.

3./ZG2 Messerschmitt Bf110C. Crashed into Ju52 and exploded during cross-wind landing at Neufchâteau airfield on return from combat sortie. Lt H. Rosenkranz killed. Aircraft a write-off.
