Hello,

Im looking for the insignia of 9/KG53. I have managed to find the insignia for just about every other KG53 staffel, just not the one Im after, which is rather frustrating.

Hello...

I haven't been able to find a unit emblem for this Staffel either, but there is a well-known photo in a book which I have, that shows an in-flight shot of an He111H from 9/KG53 during the Battle of Britain (A1+BT), and it clearly has no unit emblem at all.

I suspect some Staffeln simply used the Gruppe emblem, similar to the often-seen photo of A1+AH on the Russian Front, which carries the I.Gruppe emblem behind the cockpit glazing. Then again, hopefully someone else may prove me wrong.

I got interested in A1+LT (5536), which came down 29/10/40 after a W/T failure.

Hi, I found the emblem of the III./KG 53, see attachment.
Is it that what you are looking for?

I have a fair number of III/KG 53 photos and apart from what Horst has shown, have not come across any specific 9 Staffel badge

Hello Horst

I have this as a later version of the above badge but,sadly, do not have it as a photo on an actual aircraft.

I do, however, have a photos of the earlier emblem, all from expired ex-eBay auctions.
