Eduard Tratt

Hello Evgeny

Many thanks for the information that Tratt was wounded on 12 August 1940. I had no previous knowledge of this incident so it is most welcome. Take care and thank you.

Horrido!

Leo

Can anyone please provide any detail for these 2 incidents at all?
I cannot find any mention on these dates within the Balss loss lists.

Any help will be very well received.
Regards Richard.

Re: Eduard Tratt

Richard, this is what I've found;

12/8/40- Ju88s of Stab/KG 51, ll./KG 51 and lll./KG 51 attacked Portsmouth Harbour and Ventnor radar station escorted by Bf110s of l./ZG 2 (including Tratt?) and ll./ZG 2 and with lll./ZG 26 and lll./ZG 76 flying 'Freiejagd' in support of the raid on Portsmouth. 12 Hurricanes of 257 Sqn, 12 Spitfires of 266 Sqn and 7 Hurricanes of 43 Sqn scrambled to Portsmouth, followed by 12 Spitfires of 152 Sqn, 12 Spitfires of 609 Sqn and 12 Hurricanes of 213 Sqn. Finally 10 Hurricanes of 145 Sqn.

Bf109s of lll./JG 2, l./JG 27, lll./JG 27 and l./ JG 53 were also on 'Freiejagd''.

Tratt claimed a Spitfire 1400 hours'near Portsmouth' presumambly versus 152 Sqn, 266 Sqn or 609 Sqn. These units may also be responsible for his wounding?

Re: Eduard Tratt

A biography (short or full) of this pilot would be most welcomed, acclaimed and received by the Aerial Community. Maybe one of you do pursuit this goal.

Nice thread, by the way.

harryurz & Robert, thank you both for your replies, much appreciated.

Are the details for the aircraft and Bf. involved in these 2 incidents (12-08-40 & 27-03-42) known at all?

Regards Richard.

Re: Eduard Tratt

According to Peter Cornwell and John Vasco, I./ZG 2 suffered 4 casualties. Oblt Siegfried Blume of 2 Staffel ditched but was unwounded. Hptm Hans-Peter Kubel (Gr Kdr) was shot down and killed off Portsmouth. A Bf 110 D of I Gruppe crashed on landing at St Aubin 35% damage and a C-4 returned with 15% damage. The crews of these last 2 were unharmed so no crew details, confirmation of Staffel or aircraft details
