He 111, Schleppgruppe 1/Transportgruppe Herzog?
All,
I'm fascinated by the image below, not least of all because it's the only He 111 I've seen carrying the Yellow V underwing marking. http://www.soldiersmuseum.com/pages/ww2/sh...-armored-66.htm Can anyone help pin down the unit ID, STkz or WNr, my initial guess is it's an aircraft of Schleppgruppe 1 (or Transportgruppe Herzog) as they're the only unit I can pin down operating the type from Köthen at, or about, that time (near war's end)? Bit of a long-shot I know, but hoping a Transportflieger expert might be able to shed some more light and provide a positive ID, Chris |

Re: He 111, Schleppgruppe 1/Transportgruppe Herzog?
Hum, it's not because she ended/surrender at Köthen that this unit's airplane was stationned there...
All we know is that this He 111 was under Luftflott4 command between end of Sept 44 up start of March 45 > So it is very probably from KG4 but it could also be a liaison or Staff airplane from any other units under Luftflotte4 command... Olivier |

Thanks Olivier, but that was my question, whose aircraft was it - a TG or Schleppgruppe was my "guess",
I was hoping somebody else may know more, Chris |
