Looking for info of loadouts+belting of P-51C+D and P-47C+D please
I'm currently researching different loadouts of the P-47C and D and P-51C and D models, including weaponry and ammo.
My question relates to official and un-official (field mod) loadouts including bomb/rocket/Cluster bombs/Napalm, etc, etc Also; • How much ammo in each gun • How common it was to use 6 guns in the 47 • The tracer belting and in which guns i.e 1 tracer every 5th? 10th? 20th? • If they had tracers on just one side • The advantage if any of using no tracers So what I'm looking for is the detail bullet pointed above, but also, even if it was a field mod, what weaponry each plane could carry including drop tanks and positions? From my own reading I know that the Bomb load max was 2x1000lb one mounted on each wing and 1x500lb under the belly. I have also see Anti=Personel cluster bombs strapped to the wing of the P-47, but now can I leave the rest to you to help me fill in the gaps? I appreciate there could be a lot of information, but any that could be supplied would be appreciated. If you can help that would be of great benefit to me, cheers, MP. |

Re: Looking for info of loadouts+belting of P-51C+D and P-47C+D please
The ammo load for the P-51D was 1880 rounds, for the B/C it was 1260 rounds, No rocket launcher racks until the P-51D-25 with retro to -20 but five installed on each wing.
1000 pound bomb per wing rack for D/K/H, 500 for B/C. Max Load for D/K racks were 165 Gallon tanks at ~ 1120 pounds each and very manuever loading restricted. For 5" HVAR - 6 each @ 140 pounds each w/o bomb/fuel racks 10 @ 140 pounds Tracer load entirely dependent on pilot pref.. my father used 1:20 with 1:5 for last 50 rounds. Use no tracers, no warning |
