Smile DO 335

I have long been a fan of this particular AC and I know there was at least one still in existence. Is this plane still alive somewhere and are there any parts and pieces of these still in existence? any web sites etc would be most interesting to me and I am planning a trip to Europe and to actually see the real thing would be most satisfying for me! I am aware of the NASM example but it is "stored" and that facility is closed to the public.

thanks in advance

Re: DO 335

I think the only one to survive is sitting at the National Air & Space Museum near Washington DC. I was lucky enough to see it a couple years ago. It's in very nice condition! Apparently they shipped it back to Germany and Dornier performed a restoration. It was on static display for a while and it was returned to the states. I'm pretty sure it's still available for public viewing. Hope this helps.

The aircraft has been on display at NASM Udvar Hazy for almost two years!
