Re: Photos + 5-30-05
This http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6183016703 is a Heinkel He 111 P (supercharger air intakes on the left side of the engine).
These Fw 56's: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6182962299 were probably Austrian (if the circular marking behind the man standing on the left is a national marking). |

Re: Hurricane in France
Ed
Very nice Hurricane photo. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6183298662 615 Sqn in Battle of France - May 1940 Looked through the Hurricane serials, unfortunately the serial is not totally clear there does not seem to be any P2??? attributed to 615 Sqn in France. Not surprising as dozens in P2??? series were lost in France and were not listed to squadrons. Any thoughts on serial? Possibility though that it is the Hurricane of F/Lt J G Sanders of 615Sqn who took off at 09.30 on 17th May 1940. Between Charleroi and Wavre, Sanders shot down a Ju88 L1+AR of 7/LG1 which crashed at Fines-les-Raches. Seems probable Sanders Hurricane was hit by return fire and force landed near Lille. Returned to unit. Source -Twelve Days in May - B.Cull/B.Lander/H.Weiss by Grub Street This was the only 615Sqn belly landing listing I could find. Very nice historic photo if proved correct. regards Mark Last edited by markjsheppard; 31st May 2005 at 21:48. |

Re: Photos + 5-30-05
Unless I'm much mistaken http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6183229929 shows a Ju 52 with the staffelwappen of 4./KGrzbV 9 - see Ketley and Rolfe p65 photo no 102 for a comparison photo.
Given the date quoted on http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6183027395 I'd suggest KGrzbV 102 although without the "Narvik" honourific usually seen at the top of the emblem. Can anyone confirm if elements of 102 were deployed to Comiso at this time? Item http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6183029128 contains a nice rendition of the wappen for Bordfunkerschule Halle All in all an interesting set of e-bay items Ed - including some interesting Ju 52 items. Anyone have a suggestion for the unit emblem on the He 59 ( http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6182994882 )
