Luftflotte Südost magazines

Hi all,
For some time I have tried to locate copies of the magazine 'Luftflotte Südost' in the period 1943/1944, but without any luck. I have tried ebay.de, but only rarely do they show up there and none in the period I am looking for. Also, I recently visited the BA-MA Freiburg, but did not succeed in finding them there .. maybe I was looking in the wrong files?

Can anyone assist me in finding these magazines? Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
Morten

I searched the Center for Research Libraries catalog for you, but they don't have it either. In the event you didn't know, CRL is the world's largest repository of newspapers and serials, even larger than the Library of Congress and the British National Library.

I've not visited it but the British Library's Newspaper Reading Room is in Colindale, North London (right by the tube station and less than a mile from the RAF Museum).

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

It looks like they have one edition (Heft) from 1943 and one from 1944. I am not sure if these are for sale, or if the site intends to eventually make the contents available. I attempted to open it up by clicking the cover and elsewhere, but nothing happened. It certainly is a great site with a commendable purpose and a site I didn't know about before, and I wish them the best with their endeavor.

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

Hi Larry, Nick and Dénes

Thank you for your very quick replies. I have written both Wartime Press and Library of Congress .. fingers crossed.
If that does not lead to anything I will give the British Library's Newspaper Reading Room a call and enquire.

Andrew and I need to locate an article called 'Grenadiere der Luft' for our next manuscript about the Fw 190s over Sicily.

Once again thanks for your help.

All the best
Morten

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

Hi Kari and Jocshi

The Library of Congress replied that they do not hold any magazines (however, my request was for Luftflotte Südost only), but I am referred to
the German National Library at http://www.d-nb.de/eng/index.htm that holds the serial. And I just checked for Luftflotte Nordost and it looks like they have that as well .. http://d-nb.info/013894307

Kind regards
Morten

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

I am glad you were able to locate a source for them, Morten, but I am perplexed over the Library of Congress response. Why would their catalog clearly show that they have them in the reading rooms in the Jefferson or Adams buildings but now claim they don't? I wonder if maybe they used to have them but returned them to Germany some years ago? I think I recall that they did do that with some items back in the 1970's and 1980's.
