Lancaster W.4265 No.9 Sqn RAF Waddington

Hi can anyone give me any information or direct me to where I can find some on John William Bowes, Flight Engineer on Lancaster W.4265 No.9 Sqn RAF Waddington operating Wellington and Lancaster bombers. F/Sgt Bowes took part in raids on Wismar 23/9/42 and Genoa 7/11/42.
On return to Waddington on the 8/11/42 W.4265 collided with Lancaster R.5916, both crews were killed. Regards Roger

Hi

Don't know what you have managed to find out about this, I was doing some reserarch and found that my uncle F/Sgt657341 Adams was killed aboard R5916.
I would apreciate any information on how to obtain service records etc as I am totally new to this. Steve

Steve,

If the person who's service records you require has been dead for 25+ years, then the FOI Act allows anyone to obtain a copy (minus certain restricted docs). If the person has been dead for less than 25 years, then only the next of kin is permitted access (or the NoK has to give permission to the researcher). In both cases you need proof of death and/or proof of NoK.

The Service Personnel and Veteran's Agency website will provide further guidence:
