Please, I would like to know: in a Luftwaffe fighter school unit (flying service) :

was a Leutnant always an instructor ? Not sure.

Do You mean fighter schools or Ergänzungsgruppen?

In fighter schools probably even more often than officers, experienced Feldwebels/Oberfeldwebels were placed after their call off from the combat duty. You can check many biographies of lesser Jagdwaffe aces at www.luftwaffe.cz
