Its a reissue. I have the first edition, different cover. Maybe the author has updated the manuscript.

It is a reissue. There is some revised detail, but not a great deal. The bit about "highest ever losses" of course, refers to losses to intruders.
In their original blurb, the publishing company wrote: "The aerial fighting over Europe was ferocious. Some 150 Fortress and Liberator aircrew failed to return..." The fact that this involved the loss of 'only' 15 bombers - extremely light losses considering how far into Germany the mission penetrated - was obviously lost on a publisher determined to find a selling point for their book. As readers of this forum are no doubt aware, when the 8th USAAF went to Berlin a week later 63 bombers with 606 crewmen were MIA !!! BC |
