189 squadron ORBs etc
I'm trying to help a lady in Sydney with some research on her uncle, Maxwell Browne, w/op. in Lancaster ME300 who was killed flying with 189 squadron when their plane collided with another Lancaster of 467 squadron over Cognac, France on 5 January 1945.
I have Max's service record from the NAA, his A705 hasn't yet been digitised but it would yield little that we don't already know. He joined 44 squadron from 51 Base on 3 October 1944 then the crew flew 3 ops. (11th, 19th and 28th October), his pilot being F/O J I Coad, before posting at some point to 189. Beyond that it's a blank until 5 January 1945. Any help much appreciated. Regards Max |
