Fritz Mrotzeck of JG 3 - Luftwaffe and Allied Air Forces Discussion Forum

Hi Guys

Fritz Mrotzeck was an Unteroffizier then Feldwebel with 2./JG 3, claiming nineteen Russian aircraft between 1st July 1942 and 5th November 1942, but then disapears until he re-emerges as a Leutnant and Staffelkapitan of 1./JG 3 on 2nd november 1944, he was killed in combat with Allied aircraft on 18th December 1944. However I have a Feldwebel Mrotzek claiming a B-17 on 17th August 1943 at 1257 hrs with Industrial Staffel Regensburg. Can anybody confirm or deny that this is the same person, or explain/and explain what he was doing in the two years that I lose him, or even a date of birth would be great.

Perhaps he was badly wounded and then temporarily reassigned?

Hi Rob

Have not been able to find him in any losses for Jg3. The rank and time are correct for it being him in Inustrial Regensberg, but slight variation in surname!
