Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
Search for "Rügen" and "Stuka":
http://www.moz.de/de/nachrichten/ver...g/0/1/1024476/ http://www.welt.de/kultur/article106...or-Ruegen.html http://www.ostsee-zeitung.de/vorpomm...ews&id=3467208 It "must" be a Dora due to the wooden prop. |

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
Dear Gents,
slightly looking into the future, it may be of some interest whether the remains of that kite will later on be part of the exhibition at the "Luftwaffe Museum Gatow" on display or the "Bundesvermögensamt" is trying to turn out some euros for the parts have been recovered. Let's wait and see... At High Tea Time with best Regards Norbert

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
@ Horst,
how do they call it today when it doesn't exist any more as "Bundesvermögensamt"? I have really no idea. But nonetheless: Do You really think that a recovery with an effort like this - in spending a lot of money from the state tax-income by involving the Bundesmarine - will end up in a dead end road without any turnout? Just a question... Cheers Norbert

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
According to Die Welt the plan is to restore the plane and exhibit it in Gatow.
All the best Andreas

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
Well, I am a little surprised now. Wreck turns out be Junkers "Ju 88" in latest news ... pictures released so far does not say much else than it had Jumo 211 (or Jumo 213) engines with VS Wood props.
Can be Ju 88 A, C, D, G, S etc. or even an Ju 188 A / D ... ??? http://www.welt.de/vermischtes/artic...or-Ruegen.html |

Re: stuka recovery from the ostzee
That WELT online article states that there was found a knife
with optional space for a potassium cyanide capsule. (???) Did german pilots regularly have knifes of such a type with aboard? bye, FrankieS |
