Bf 109 G-6/AS

Were there specific blocks of the 163 000 Werk Nummer series built as /AS models and if so, can anyone say which?

Thanks.

Re: Bf 109 G-6/AS

Hello Nick,

AFAIK there is no first-hand information on precise Werknummern for AS-aircraft. But MTT-Regensburg production overviews from fall 1944 have some summarized numbers:

WNr. 163000 - 163212 were all G6 subtype
WNr. 163213 - 163712 (500 a/c) were 458 G6 and 40 G6/AS
WNr. 163713 - 164000 (288 a/c) were 182 G6 and 99 G6/AS.

From different sources there is fair indication, that at least the following a/c from block 163.xxx were G6/AS:

428, 430, 431, 435, 447, 491,
765,771,773,786,787,789,790,794,796,797,
801,809, 818,819,820,822,823,825,828,831,837,840,
972, 979, 980, 982, 985, 991, 994, 999.

Looking at the acceptance dates, the 163.4xx were very early a/c from late April 1944 and the 163.7xx - 163.9xx were from mid May and early June 1944.

All these a/c were completed like G6/AS from the start directly at the manufacturer and not being rebuilt from older airframes. Production site was the Regensburg/Obertraubling complex.

HTH

Re: Bf 109 G-6/AS

Thanks Carl,

W.Nr. 163161 and 163361 were G-6/AS as well (source: ULTRA) so I was wondering about 174 and 876.
