You're right. Using gas masks may explain high altitude loss of sense....

Are you sure of the initial for McIntosh? Lawrence McIntosh (A403596) served with 122 Sqn at about this time.

Taken from the (unofficial) 122 Sqn diary which also specifies D McIntosh was British as opposed to Australian?
