Lancaster JB 540
Hi all,
was wondering if anybody knew the type this Lancaster was. It was shot down on 25-Feb-44 and was assigned to 12 Sq. Thanks, Norbert |

Yes, it was Lancaster B Mk III., built by A.V. Roe Chadderton in late 1941. It was one of planes in block of 550 planes which carried serials JA672 to JB 748.

Crashed near Michelau im Steigerwald. USAAF-airman was the navigator and it was not uncommon that USAAF-personnel of a Replacement Control Depot joined commonwealth crews.
