Ten. Carlos Braganilli Italian fighter pilot 1940

Hi guys

Reading a book written by a Blenheim pilot in Greece, he mentions that he was shot down on 6 January 1941 over Albania by an Italian pilot named Carlos Braganilli, who visited him when first captured.

Is this name correct?

Cheers
Brian

most likely there is not a pilot with the name Carlos or more precisely was the only pilot the captain Carlos Bertuzzi' s 238^ squadriglia BaT -Bombardamento a Tuffo- which operated in operations against Greece on Stukas)

Re: Ten. Carlos Braganilli Italian fighter pilot 1940

Thanks guys

But I don't believe either is correct. The Blenheim in question (that flown by Campbell) was shot down by a G.50, and the pilot who visited Campbell was a Tenente.

Cheers

Re: Ten. Carlos Braganilli Italian fighter pilot 1940

Broganelli Elio was a Tenente in 1940-41 but he served with 3° Gruppo CT and never fought in the war against Greece.

I don't know whether there was another Tenente Broganelli in R. Aeronautica.

ciao

Gianandrea

Thanks Gianandrea et al

I think the name must be fictitious, although the incident genuine.

More research required!

Re: Ten. Carlos Braganilli Italian fighter pilot 1940

almost sure there are not other tenente pil. Broganelli or similar "Braganilli" into Regia Aeronautica except
Elio Broganelli that in January 1941 was in Sardinia with the 3° Gruppo Autonomo CT ;
and excluded tenente Bertuzzi no other pilots with name "Carlos"

The Blehneim that flown by Campbell (L1487) is shot down by Tenente Livio Bassi on G.50 bis of 154 Gruppo CT ( Shores Cull Malizia: Air war for Yugoslavia Greece and Crete 1940-1941)
