Soviet mining in the Baltic

A new Danish book claims that the soviet air force and Red Banner Fleet aircraft were dropping mines in the Baltic in 1945. I have never heard of these operations. Which units or aircraft type were involved ?

Andrew,
May I know the sources of your information?
I have been researching the mining activity of RAF and Russian Air Forces in Eastern Baltic area (off Gdynia and Danzig) such details would be very useful for my researches.

Regards,
Greg

Hi Greg,

The source is the daily operational reports of the VVS KBF, kindly provided to me by a Russian colleague. His source is TsAMO.

All the best,
Andrew A.

Did any of the mines cause shipping losses or damage?
