July 7 1944

Hallo,

on July 7 1944 was shot down Fw 190A5, weiss 19+, FjUffz. Karl-Heinz Schell, 1./JGr.Os nearby village Lískovec in Silesia. There are two different sources which state that WNr. was 710062 nor 410062. What is correct? Does somebody know how many planes of JGr. Ost were shot down during that day?

Thnak you for reply

Re: July 7 1944

Hi.

The unit lost a total of 14 aircraft on this day, of which 6 was lost due to enemy action (4 with damage of more than 50%, and 2 with up to 50% damage), while 8 were lost without enemy action (all up to 50% damage). Of the latter 4 were damaged on an operational flight while the rest was damaged in flights of a non-operational character.

Regards,
Andreas

Hallo Michal,
the WNr. of the Fw 190 A-5 is probably 710062 since 410062 is an unknown WNr. block, at least to me.

Regards,
Norbert

Hi Norbert:

The 410xxx block has quite a few losses, at least 150, all A-5s.

Re: July 7 1944

Hi John,
thanks for the clarification. There is always something to learn. I used the Peter Rodeike book for my previous post since my losses evaluation project is falling behind at a rapid pace.

Thanks,

Norbert
