Late production Bf 109G (photo)
This photo showing a Bulgarian '109 baffles me for long time.
What I can see is large tires and matching large wing 'bumps', as well as deep oil cooler, but 'classic' cockpit canopy. Could it be a G-14 fitted with G-10 wings? Thanks for the opinions.

Re: Late production Bf 109G (photo)
Dear Dénes,
Without being the ultimate expert, this kite seems to be a regular 1944 built Bf 109 G-6 with either Bf 109 G-10 or K-4 wings affixed. I know of no Bf 109 G-14 documented photographically as having the old three pieces canopy. Cheers Marc |

Re: Late production Bf 109G (photo)
Dénes, my information is, that Bulgaria only got G-2,G-4 and G-6 of the G-series. Do you got informations for G-14 in Bulgarian units?
Is it sure a Bulgarian Gustav? They used the planes up to 1946, possible a repaired G-6 with mixed parts?

You're right about the sub-types received; however, close to the war's end, the Bulgarians also salvaged a number of Bf 109Gs from Zeltweg airfield (Austria). This machine is most probably part of that batch of 'trophy' aircraft, thus could be a G-14, too. @Marc, yes, it could very well be the case. But I would exclude the K-4 possibility, as there was not K-4 at Zeltweg (see above).
