Re: Buccaneer over the edge
Hi Kutscha
I don't know from where you got the date 14.4.1974 (as destroyed) According to the Air Britain FAA Fixed Wing Aircraft since 1946 'Bible' this aircraft was already SOC from inventory 12.10.1971 while a GI airframe (correctly listed as A2617) In April 1974 the aircraft had been taken from Culdrose and on 18.4.74 loaded onboard Ark Royal in Plymouth. A so called safety film was made at the time onboard the vessel. As part of the film the aircraft was then pushed into the English Channel in May that same year. Since such action is standard procedure in wartime I presume it all had to do with instructions how it is done. After all if you should show each class in real life how it is done, you will soon run out of aircraft and most likely run foul of both Government objections and plenty of environmentalists. Re: Buccaneer over the edge
Aha, I see
Well f/f is first flight, d/d is delivered and A2617 is a ground instruction airframe number given by the Royal Navy. Not sure if that number actually was worn by the aircraft. Cheers Stig |
