Who can claim He111 w/nr.3823 on 11 May 1941 ?

Hi,

The He111 w/nr.3823 of KG4 made an emergency landing at Oostende (Ostend) beach,Belgium on 11 May,1941 , damaged by enemy fighters.

In RAF Fighter Command Victory claims of World War Two, part two, by John Foreman, an enemy aircraft is mentioned as damaged by F/L. B.R.O’B.Hoare of 23 Squadron (flying a Havoc) during the night 10-11/05/1941 at Oostende. Was this the He111 which crashlanded on Oostende beach ?

Looking forward to receive your comments and best regards

Luc

Reading the report of Oblt Bredemeier, BO on this ac coded 5J+LL, I believe that a better candidate was Plt Off Burnard & Sgt Reeves of 85 Sqn

Best regards

Dear Chris,

Thanks for the correct name of the pilot. The orb of the Squadron (AIR27/704) also mentions him as Burnard.

Best regards

Luc
