219 Squadron
Hello everyone - On the 11/12th July 1944 PO DT Tull/PO PJ Cowgill claimed a Ju88 destroyed 20m ENE of Rouen. Can anyone provide/confirm time of combat and serial for their Mosquito NFXVII. Unable to located Combat Record or ORB [AIR27 - Record of Events] which includes details of aircraft serials. Many thanks in advance.

Re: 219 Squadron
The spreadsheet of Mosquito claims of enemy aircraft at www.mossie.org doesn't have the details you seek, unfortunately.

Re: 219 Squadron
Unfortunately, the Forms 541 of the 219 Sqn. ORB for the months of July through October 1944 are missing from TNA's collection. So unless the log books of the crew are available, there is little possibility of the serial number ever being known.

Re: 219 Squadron
This is not going to deliver an answer without a log book
Earlier Tull claimed three victories, each in a different aircraft. This suggests aircraft were not assigned to pilots Even if you narrow the possible serials down, to say five, that means you have an 80% chance that whichever one you pick will be wrong Martin |

Re: 219 Squadron
I would agree with Martin-a pointless exercise unless you have a logbook

Re: 219 Squadron
Thanks to everyone who replied. Agree - unless I can track down the missing ORB for July 1944, I would otherwise need the logbook. A little frustrating that I have the AIR27 Summary of Events for July 1944 [the day to day entries] but not the Record of Events that has the aircraft serials, time up and down etc. But that's why we do what we do with our research. Once again thanks.
