La Roche Gyon. Friday 25th August 1944

I wonder if anybody here can possibly help me, please??
On the 25th of August 1944 the village of La Roche Guyon (The site of Rommel's HQ from march 1944) was bombed twice by the Allies.

The first raid was at 16.30 hrs and the second at 22.30 hrs. The first raid was reported locally as being carried out by "medium" bombers and the second one by "fighter-bombers".

What I would like to know is, which Allied units carried out these raids? I have checked the 8th & 9th Air Force records and also the 2 TAF records, but I can find nothing at all that refers to this raid.

Given that this was such a prestigious target, I would have expected more information.

Any information at all will be most appreciated.

Thanks Mike,

The problem is that La Roche Guyon is nowhere near Brest, it's in Normandy. Very strange............................
