Re: Photo Pomilio Aircraft

Hello,

Currently on ebay there is a photo of Pomilio PC 3757 at:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Italian-Ita...0AAOSwND5es2CU

However, the http would appear to indicate that the aircraft is a PE Fiat-300HP. But looking at images of 3757 elsewhere on the net, it was photographed as part of the Italian aviation mission to the USA, it appears identical to the 3780 in post 1 in this thread.

Regards,

Clint

Clint

Whatever it is, it is no standard PC, not with those two slanted radiators.
Basically both the PC and PD models used the Fiat A.12 of 200hp while the PE model was the first to use the Fiat A.12bis said in my sources to have been 260hp. Normally the PC and PD also seems to have used some kind of nose radiator and not any of those shown in the photo.

Is is very difficult for me to say which engine this really is, but with the use of these radiators it must either be a "one off" or an experimental aircraft either testing a new engine or testing a new radiator design.

With rather few PC models built and a serial number within its known range it feels like it is a standard PC used for testing.

Cheers
Stig

Hi Stig,

Good point about the radiators.

Also interested by your comment on the known serial range for the Pomilio PC. Do you have start and end numbers at all?

Re: Photo Pomilio Aircraft

Well Clint

Not really...
Something like 70 were built and with the two known serials, this one and P.3780, both are clearly within the stipulated range....

Cheers
Stig
