28/04/1942 Twin-engined Luftwaffe aircraft crashed near Sint-Niklaas (Belgium)
Hi,
On 28/04/1942 , a Luftwaffe aircraft crashed 6 km east of Sint-Niklaas due to an engine fire at 00h10. The crew of 4 baled out safe. (Source : Bundesarchiv RW 38-19 p.59) Another source, dating from many years ago, mentions that a Luftwaffe plane crashed at Haasdonk on 28/04/1942 – 00h10. Haasdonk is 6 km east of Sint-Niklaas. Could this be the Ju88A-4 of K.Fl.Gr.106 which according to the GQM Flugzeugunfälle und Verluste bei den Verbänden (Source: Bundesarchiv RL 2-III-1180 p.18) crashed near Brussels on 27/04/1942 ? Sint-Niklaas is approx. 40 km from Brussels. Looking forward to receive your input. Many thanks and best regards Luc |
