Oblt Ernst-Heinrich Schickedanz
This officer was with Stab V./KG 40 in 1943 but photos show him wearing the Frontflugspange and Spanish Cross in silver with swords EK II but no EK I. Does any have any information on his previous and subsequent careers? Larry and Doug's list has nothing much on him. It is possible he was not a pilot

Re: Oblt Ernst-Heinrich Schickedanz
Just speculation, but he probably was "other ranks" during the Spanish Civil War, hence the difficulty in finding him listed in the documents. From Sep 39 to 1942, he probably had training and ground assignments in signals and by 1940-41 had been commissioned Leutnant (Kr.O.) in the Luftnachrichtendienst. By 1943, he was an Oberleutnant with KG 40 and Nachrichtenführer in Stab/V. Gruppe. Very, very unlikely for him to have been a pilot.
