Stammkennzeichen DN+CB ? Fw 190 ?

Hello,

Can anyone identify the Stammkennzeichen DN+CB? It might have belonged to a Fw 190. Did any Fw 190 have a Stammkennzeichen that started with a DN?

Thanks,
Roger Gaemperle

Fw190

Roger

Off the top of my head, I think there is a Fw190 G-3 series with the DN+ codes. Seen photos and beelive one of those FE- Fw190's captured by the Americans and test flown was a DN+ code?

Need to look more on the web/books

regards

MS

Mark,

Thank you for the info. I tried to find the STKZ of the captured G-3 but could only find the STKZ of another G-3 "DP+".

How difficult is it to find out the Werknummer for "DN+CB"?

The reason why I am asking is that I recently got a Revi C/12D which had apparently been installed in a Fw 190 (electricial wiring diagram markings on the sight correspond to Fw 190 markings for the sight; i.e. "P12"). On the cushion there is "DN CB" written in stencils. As every sight was adjusted for each aircraft individually, the gunsights had to be installed into the same aircraft again after they were removed for e.g. maintenance and DN CB is probably the STKZ to make sure that this sight was installed only in DN+CB.

If it is possible to find out more about DN+CB that I would also know more about this sight's history.

Regards,
Roger Gaemperle

Hello,
Rodeike in "the Fw 190 Jagdflugzeug" give the followings :
DN+CC : Fw 190 A-2 Wnr. 120223
DN+CH : Fw 190 A-2 Wnr. 120228
DN+CN : Fw 190 A-2 Wnr. 120234

Sven Carlsen and Michael Meyer in "Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe Band II give :
DN+CY : Fw 190 A-3 Wnr. 130245.

Wk.Nr. 120222 "DN+CB"

Eric,

Thank you very much for this information. That would fit quite well as it is an early Revi C/12D variant with a painted body.

From your list, I assume that DN+CB must have had the Wk.Nr. 120222.

So, the next question is: Is anything known about the history of 120222?

Regards,
Roger Gaemperle

Hey Roger

I believe the DN + CB was a Fw 190 A-3.
This plane was made theit acceptenace flight by Fw-Bremen on 154. Nov. 1941.
On 12. Jan. 1942 it was made an emergency landing because engine trouble in Bremen. The damage must be only light.
From 24.04.1942-26.05.1942 I have registered shooting-flights by E-St.Tarnewitz and on 25. March 1943 an air-combat-training-flight, also by E-St.Tarnewitz.

Fw 190s with DN+__ St.Kz.

Very interesting thread. Regarding Fw 190s with the St.Kz. "DN+__," just to throw a little fuel on the fire, I also have the following recorded in my database files:

G-3 160 007, DN+FG, III./SKG 10, Destroyed by Germans, 43/09/09, Eboli, It?
G-3 160 016, DN+FP, SKG 10?, Captured, 44?, Salerno, It.
G-3 160 018, DN+FR, SG ??, Damaged, up on nose, later down, 44/45 Monte Corvino, It.
G-3 160 022, DN+FV, III./SKG 10, Operational/Later destroyed by Luft. personnel, 43/09/09, Monte Corvino, It.

Fw 190 A-3 0120222

Hello JoMe and Steve ,

Thank you for your information. I assume that the Wk.Nr. for Fw 190 A-3 or G-3 "DN+CB" was 120222?
If it was an airplane of E-Stelle Tarnewitz, it might well be that it was photographed. What was the source for your information?

I will post some photos of the Revi C/12D as soon as I have time to take them.

Regards,
Roger Gaemperle

A-2 or A-3 or G-3?

I found the following website with a list of A-2 Werknummern:

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/a-2a.htm

Wk.Nr. 0120222 is also mentioned. According to this list, it was an A-2. But it might be that the Wk.Nr. of DN-CB was not 0120222 although it would have made sense considering that DN+CC was 0120223.

Roger Gaemperle

The Stammkennzeichen DM+CA through to DN+CX belongs to a series of FW 190A-2 and A-3 aircraft delivered by Focke Wulf Marienburg. In addition to the aircraft already mentioned, I can ad the FW 190A-3 W.Nr. 013 0244 DN+CX delivered from Marienburg 25.02.1942. It suffered a 20% accident on 18.12.43 serving with Erg.(Nacht)/S.K.G.10 with unit code 5T+KR.

There is also a series of Stammkennzeichen DN+FA throught to DN+FX for a series of FW 190G-3 aircraft, W.Nos. 160001 to 160024, delivered by Focke Wulf Sorau.
