want to find out about a JG26 officer...
Guys:
Want to find out about an apparently successful Fighter Pilot who served at some point with JG26...Found him mentioned in passing in Donald's Book but there is very little other than his last name & rank: "Oblt Seegatz"; and three victory claims in 1941 that were numbered 14, 15 & 16. I have been unable to anything else on this person... Thx, ahead of time NM |

Re: want to find out about a JG26 officer...
He was born on 29th June 1917.
Those claims for 30th October 1940, 21st February 1944, 25th February 1944 and 6th March 1944 1208 hrs would appear not to have been confirmed. He was awarded the DKiG on 25th September 1942. Regards Johannes |

Re: want to find out about a JG26 officer...
Jim
He was appointed Staffelkapitan of 1.Erg/JG26 on 29 Dec 41. This became 11/JG1 on 27 Jan 42 which in turn became 8/JG5 in March 1942. Claim #17 12-Feb-42 Spitfire over the Channel while (Oblt) Staffelkapitan 11/JG1 - source Prien's JFV series Volume 7 - note that Prien uses 'B' at the end of each claim to designate that he has evidence that the particular claim was confirmed. With this claim, there is no 'B' thus it may or may not have been confirmed! (Prein also uses n.b. to designate a claim which was rejected and not included in the personal count) I still have a gap in Segatz record for 1943 which I suspect is when he claimed #31 - #33 Regards, Craig...
