Re: FW 190D JaPo Camouflage and Markings Part II is released
Dear Eric,
Congratulations to you and Tomas Poruba. I went and took a look at the site advertisement and would suggest a change in setup, as the text is very hard to read against the black background. Regards, Richard |

Re: FW 190D JaPo Camouflage and Markings Part II is released
Profile of 'Red 11' - 12.JG54
I have a question around this profile. I've just purchased Volume II of this book and have the 'Red 11' profile sheet. I'm no expert, but it's my understanding that 12.JG54 was a component staffel of III Gruppe. Didn't this gruppe become IV/JG26 in February 1945, with 12 staffel renumbered to 16.JG26? I understand a new III/JG54 was raised for service on the Eastern Front, but never flew the D9 model? Am I correct in thinking this profile of 'Red 11' should more properly be labelled as belonging to 16.JG26, as I believe Eelde airfield is in the West? Thanks for your time Steve |

Re: FW 190D JaPo Camouflage and Markings Part II is released
Hello Steve
You are right saying that 12./JG54 was belonging to III./JG54. In march 1945 , the groupe was renamed IV./JG26 and of course staffel were renumbered but it seems that no 16./JG26 was created . So the machine were probably split into the 3 other staffeln. A new III./JG54 was set up in the eastern front from ZG76 . But there no relation with the 'old' III./JG54. At a time, for several days , 2 III./JG54 existed one on western front one on eastern front . This machine was abondonned before the group was renamed IV./JG26 , that is whay it wore its original markings . Perhaps due to a mechanical problem. 9./JG54 was renamed 15./JG26 10 was renamed 13 and 11 => 14./JG26 . W.Nr 210037 red 11 was reported having problems with the sealing rings of the main landing gear leg pistons on 4 November 1944 and that he had 12 flying hours behind it . Eric . 0. 0. |
