Photos German Tauben
Hello,
Currently on ebay are two photos of German operated Tauben at: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/PHOTO-ORIGIN...IAAOSwk8pfmbJo https://www.ebay.fr/itm/PHOTO-ORIGIN...8AAOSwsLdfmaP2 The serial of the first machine may reas A.13/** which doesn't help to narrow down the identity much Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos German Tauben
I agree the first photo shows either A.13 or A.15/xx
Since I have a photo of A.13/13 I can say it is not that one, unless the bestellnummer has been re-painted, which seems far fetched. As far as I know all early orders in the 1911 - 1913 were from the Rumpler factory, so A.13/11, A.13/12 and/or A.15/11 to A.15/13 looks like reasonable assumptions.... Cheers Stig |

Re: Photos German Tauben
Hi Stig,
Thanks for the response. I've has some more time to think about the first photo since posting. As you recognise the style of serial may be significant in identify the aircraft shown and the full serial.I suspect we both have the same photo of A.13/13 and I'd agree its probably a different machine. I'm not sure if you've got P.M. Grosz's WDF 104 but having looked at it again, it has a photo of A.10/12 which looks much more archaic than the aircraft here. So I'm inclined to think the machine is either /13 or /14.Looking at the style of serial I thought that it looked not unlike the photo of Gotha LE.2 on Kees Kort's flicker page at : https://www.flickr.com/photos/varese2002/32400077541 Also, while Tauben resemble each other I thought that this LE.2 resembles the second machine in my post - alas the crash has disfigured the front end of the machine in the first photo, but if it is the same type of Taube, or even the same Taube, might it be an LE.2? and A.13/14 or possibly A.15/14. I have no definite identifications for either of those serials, so it may be possible. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photos German Tauben
Hi Clint
I do have the WDF 104, and also tried to update the production list. With regard to the Rumpler Taube which contains A.13/xx or A.15/xx I have the following: A.1/11, A.3/11 to A.11/11 A.1/12 to A.15/12 A.1/13 to A.26/13 When it comes to /14 I have very few Rumpler aircraft, only A.6/14 in fact among the first 15. Re: Photos German Tauben
Hello Stig,
Yes , I have to sayt he record for A category aircraft of 1914 is almost uniquely patchy. I don't have anything for the teens at all and the first 70 odd serials are more blank than complete. Strange that this should be so, as the B category machines from the same year while still having many blanks is a lot more complete. It justs adds to the frustration of not being able to read the full serial on the aircraft in the first link. Regards, Clint |
