Another Condor Query
On 18-9-1942 the 235 Sqd. Operation Book shows claims for two Ju 88's and a Fw 200 from an early evening patrol towards the French coast. The recent Wekusta book links the loss of the crew of Fw. Wemmer from Wek.51 to one of these Ju 88's. As regards the Condor it was reported in the operations book to have crashed in the sea with three men being seen in a dinghy and a fourth attempting to get into the dinghy. One of the Beaufighters was shot down by an armed trawler during the attack on the Condor.
The Luftwaffe Q.M's returns shows a KG 40 machine crashing in the sea with five injured and two dead (w.n. 0122 crew of Ofw. Bar) but on the 17-9-1942. Was another Condor lost on the 18th or is Ofw.Bar's the aircraft claimed by 235 Sqd ? I assume if it was the survivors were picked by the armed trawler and that the Condor may have been returning from a patrol started on the 17th. Any help appreciated, Thanks Brian Bines |

Re: Another Condor Query
I have no FW 200s lost on 17 Sep 42 and the 235 Sqn combat was definitely 1755 hrs 18 Sep 42 so assume it was a typo and Ofw Konrad Baer was the victim
