Flt Lt James Martin Abell
Hi,
In October 1939 Fly Off James Martin Abell (90267) was posted to 605 Squadron. In September 1940 he was promoted Flight Lieutenant. He doesn't appear to have taken part in any oerations over Dunkirk, France or the Battle of Britain. He is not mentioned in the CWGC, so I asume he survived the war. Does anyone know the career of Abell? Was he posted to the Middle or Far East? Any help appreciated. Alex

Re: Flt Lt James Martin Abell
Hi Alex,
He was P/O with a gradation date 14 May 1929 and F/O with a date 14 Nov 1930 in the AAF General Branch. Most of the F/O or F/L officers from 1920s tended to be Intellegence officers on operational units in 1940. Regards Ross |

Hi Ross,
Thanks for that. It gives me a new area to look into. Alex
