History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Hello,

Does anybody have any information about Fw 190 G-3 160896? I couldn't find anything more than that 160896 was a G-3. If there is no information about 160896 there might be some info about Fw 190s that with WkNr close to 160896?

Thanks!

Regards

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

PS: Here is the reason why I asked about this Fw 190: a control stick apparently taken from WkNr 160896.

I would be very grateful for any information about this particular aircraft as it makes the stick even more interesting from a historical point of view.

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Hello RT

Because the Me 109 G had a KG13A control stick. The Fw 190 had a KG13B and in addition the electrical wiring designation of the control stick cable connection was V60 for the Fw 190 and V23 for the Me 109 G. On this stick there is a V60 on the other side which clearly identifies it as a Fw 190 stick.

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Hello John,

Thanks a lot for the information! It seems likely that 160896 belonged to one of these two units.

Is it possible to find out anything about 160896 or does it appear only on paper if it had e.g. an accident or similar? Is there anybody who is working on a Fw 190 WkNr database that might have some more information?

Thanks!
Roger

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Hello,

I have found another WkNr which is close to the one I am looking for:

WkNr 160831 Fw 190 G-3 Uffz Streletzki 1./SKG10 killed on 6 June 1944 at La-Neuve-Lyre/Conches.

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Nick,

Many thanks for your helpful message.

reg. 5) I have found a reference to Ergänzungsstaffel (Nacht) III./KG 51 in the Soldbuch of a former Luftwaffe pilot (see page 20 of the following document.) I guess that it was previously either called

Ergänzugsstaffel (Nacht) SKG 10, or
Ergänzungstaffel (Nacht) I./SKG 10

Remi, does the ULTRA document mention one of these unit desigations?

I couldn't find any information about a Ergänzungsstaffel with NSG 20 (formed out of III./KG 51 in Oct. 1944 when W.Nr. 160896 left Erg. (Nacht) III./KG 51). From which training units usually came the pilots to NSG 20? That may be a possibility where W.Nr. 160896 went to, but obviously only a speculation.

Frans,

Thanks for the clarification. You may well be right, I found the original information in the vast lands of www, which may have been wrong.

Regards,
Roger

Re: History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

The stick must have been taken from a captured Fw 190 G-3, perhaps in Italy where SKG10 operated in 1943. I found the following information:

FW 190G-3 White K of 7./SKG 10 was captured at Gela, Sicily in 1943

Does anybody have information about this particular Fw 190 G-3? It would be the needle in the haystack, but there is a small chance that this was 160896.
