US Fighter Activity on February 15 1945
Hello,
I am looking for any details about shotdowned Henschel Hs 129 on February 15 1945. This plane claimed 1st Lt. Carroll D. Henry and 2nd Lt. Eugene H. Duquette, both members 338th FS 55th FG. Does somebody know exact and/or claimed position of crash and time of this kill? Any infromation is welcomed about this air battle. Does somebody have any Operation Report for 55th FG on this day? And last question: does somebody know which Fighter Groups of 8th AF claimed on this day destroyed locomotives and in which areas? Thanks for help Michal |

Re: US Fighter Activity on February 15 1945
Hello Michal,
From "The 55th FG vs the Luftwaffe" by John M. Gray. page 98. Quote- " 338th F S pilots 2Lt DuQuette & 1Lt Carroll Henry found a Henschel 129 circling at 8,000 feet East of Dresden and shot it down." That all it says Alex |

Re: US Fighter Activity on February 15 1945
Michal -
I also have same Book as Alex. No time of the shootdown is given. The 55th FG was on Bomber Escort to Ruhland. The Bombers usually took off at Dawn - it was what - about a 4 - 5 Hour Flight to Target ? Maybe sometime around Noon? The Group was on return Flight from Target. Just a Guess. Also - The 55th FG , 343d Sq. Destroyed 24 Locomotives Strafing from Karlsbad to Eger to Kulmbach. Hope this helps, Mike |
