Re: 467th BG / 789th BS - Lt. Gebauer's B-24
Fred,
Perhaps not entirely the answer, but there are two entries for Lt Gerald J. Gebauer on www.wwiimemorial.com First one says he completed 42 missions, the other 35 missions over Germany. He was from Detroit, Michigan. Your date of 4th June 1944, was his plane lost that day? Apparently 467th BG didn't fly a mission that day. Regards, Leendert |

Re: 467th BG / 789th BS - Lt. Gebauer's B-24
Leendert,
His plane was not lost that day but the 467th BG carried out a mission this 4th of June 1944. Mission No.390 onto Bourges airfield, France. We are going to build a 1/48 scale model of Lt. Gebauer’ B-24 and we would like to know his number of mission at that time. It’s the only pilot of the Group who accomplished three missions toward this city with the same airplane - B-24 “Miss Judy” …and thanks a lot for the link. All the best, Fred |

Re: 467th BG / 789th BS - Lt. Gebauer's B-24
Fred,
Reason I asked about 4th June is that because according the 467th BG website the mission to Bourges was on 5th June 1944... See: http://www.467bg.com/mission41.html and http://www.467bg.com/june44.html USAAF Chronology however says that on 4th June 1944 Bourges A/F was hit by 23 B-24s. Perhaps 467th BG website is one day off? Miss Judy here: http://www.the467tharchive.org/missjudy.html Regards, Leendert |

Leendert,
The mission really took place the 4th of June. The 458th Bomb Group also carried out this mission. About “Miss Judy”, my question is to know the number of bombs frames painted on the airplane at this date. Regards, Fred |
