Soviet aviation grenade

I read about Pe-2's throwing out AG-2 aviation grenades to knock down attacking German fighters. Does anyone know how these worked?

Re: Soviet aviation grenade

There are similar stories about IL2-reargunners throwing grenades with delayed ignition. I imagine that they used delay of i.e. ca. 500m, which means ca. 6 seconds at 300km/h.

One guy from II./JG52 was injured in such an incident, IIRC it was Ewald over Hungary.

Re: Soviet aviation grenade

"Pe-2 got even more defence starting from '179' series. DAG-10 dispenser for 10 aircraft grenades AG-2 was added at tail section. Despite those grenades could not be aimed on the attacking aircraft, they could literally blast it of the sky."

I will check my books at home and tell you if I find more!
