Halifax loss - Austria Jan 1944

Hi all

Had a quick look at Sandy Air Corp site in Austria (They recovered the P47 in 2005).

They also have some bits from a Halifax wreck from the Austrian Alps - (Merlin example). supposedly crashed in Jan 1944 and I am assuming the whole crew were killed. (Not sure how accurate the date is).

Not sure if on a bombing missing or SOE - I assume the former.

any thoughts about the ID

Photo from there web site.

regards

Mark

I'd have assumed SOE, out of Italy. However, without a date or a serial, it is difficult.

That rather looks like an anti-shimmy tailwheel tyre (two raised sides with a dip in the middle) - its it possible to tell from the original if it is that or just deflated/damaged?

Graham

I am assuming the anti shimmy tail wheel.

Assume BII Special. Nothing more to go on
