Leeuwarden January 1944, Kurt Zimmer

Perhaps one of the specialist here can help with a search.
Today I read in a local newspaper about a man who tries to find his father. His father should have been pilot by a unit that was based at Leeuwarden airfield, january 1944. The name of his father should be Kurt Zimmer. There is a photo of this pilot in an aircraft with the name(?) Zusatz 2.
Anyone a suggestion of which units were based at Leeuwarden or anyone seen the name Kurt Zimmer before.

The only Kurt Zimmer we have in out files is:

ZIMMER, Kurt. 01.01.38 promo to Obstlt.




This is not your man, but here it is. The implication is that your guy was probably not an officer who held some sort of position in the Luftwaffe.

Thanks for your lightning fast reply! But why can it not be "our" man?
In the newspaper there is a photo of the pilot in uniform, I will try to post it here and perhaps we can see wether it is an officer or not.

If the man was flying in a unit at Fliegerhorst Leeuwarden in January 1944, I see only two possibilities:
- IV./NJG 1 if he was operational.
- Fliegerhorst Kommandantur A 203/VI, or one of the groundunits, for fun or liaison.

I do not think he was a part of IV./NJG 1. The name is unfamiliar to me. See the work of Ab Jansen.
So the biggest possibility is that he was one the persons in the Stab of the Fliegerhorst Kommandantur or he belongued to one of groundunits on or around the airfield.

This Zimmer person must still be in Dutch captivity because in many places near the Dutch coast one can read an appeal on signs 'Zimmer frei'

A more serious attempt to help, I found 2 Zimmer guys, both within the NJG 3:

* 11 Aug.1942, Bf110 D-3 (Wnr.4352) 9./NJG 3, code D5+NS, Skagerak, Lt. Spitzer MIA, Fw. Wilhelm ZIMMER MIA, Uffz. Thiele MIA

or:
* 14 Jan.1945, Ju88 G-1 (Wnr. 710818) Schulstaffel NJG 3, code D5+EP, 3km SO Friedberg, Ofw. Fels, Uffz. Richard ZIMMER +, Gefr. Hecht
