Fw-190 Reference Material

I'm 48 years old, just quit my job of 22 years to start my own business and do a little traveling. Haven't built a plastic model since I was in high school. But since I have a little time on my hands I dropped into the local HS and picked up Hasagawa's FW 190A-8. Since I've been out of this for so long I need a couple of recomendations for definitive references/publications for the Fw 190 A-8 specifically and the and the 190 in general. If this works out there may be a D-9 in my future.

Thanks in advance

S.Cook

For modelers, the best 190A references are:
  • "HT Model Special #916: Focke-Wulf Fw 190A/F/G/S" by Jozef And'al, 2007, 157 pages
(Note: This is a revised and expanded edition of HT Model Special #913)
  • "Model Art #316: Focke-Wulf Fw 190A/F/G", 1988, 178 pages
  • "Aero Detail #6: Focke-Wulf Fw 190A/F", 1993, 96+ pages, ISBN 4-499-22603-1
  • "Walk Around #22: Focke-Wulf Fw 190A/F" by Laing and Ryle, Squadron/Signal, 2000, 79 pages, ISBN 0-89747-414-7
  • "Focke-Wulf Fw 190 im Detail" by Jens Nissen, Motorbuch Verlag, 2002, 174 pages, ISBN 3-613-02198-6
  • "Technical Manual Series #1: Fw 190 A-8 Aircraft Handbook", translated by George Hopp, Valkyrie Pubs, 1974, 140 pages, ISBN 0-88992-000-1
For developmental, production and operational history of the 190, the best references are the books by Peter Rodeike, Frappe/Lorant, Griehl/Dressel, Hermann/Leverenz/Weber, Price, Lowe, Arthy/Jessen, Janowicz (4 Kagero volumes), and Skupiewski (2 AJ Press volumes.)

Hope that helps,
Leon Venter.
