In July 2009 was published my article on "A/A Defense of Modlina in September 1939".
During operations in September to defend the fortress Modlin occupies an important place. Less well-known piece was to defend its by A/A units. Air fortress defended area lasted from 1 to 27 September A/A Motor Battery no 8 commanded by kpt. Józef Płodowskiego, which had 4 gun Bofors 40 mm. Come to this company A/A machine guns caliber 7.92 mm and then KU 30 armed cutter with two mg caliber 13.2 mm (it had come to Modlin on 11 September). The publication shows the A/A defense from both sides -Polish and German.
During the defense of Poland reported shot down of 24 German aircraft. In this work, carried out the verification of the Polish victories. It turns out that only 6-8 LW aircraft were destroyed (damage to more than 60%), another 6 were shot down and force-laded behind own line next 15-20 had small damages. These aircraft are repaired and returned to service. At the end of the text is a table containing a list of losses on individuals LW planes.
The material was based on interviews with kpt. Joseph Płodowskim and the IV platoon commander Tadeusz Jaegermannem and German sources.
Text appeared in: Militaria XX wieku wydanie specjalne (special issue) 3 (10) / 2009, p. 46-64 (19 pages). Text is supplemented by 32 black-and-white photos and a map.
