Research question....flak batteries and confirmed kills
This is my first post on this forum. I have two questions.
How would I find out which flak battery would have claimed any planes shot down near Ruoen (sp?), France on June 22, 1944? My dad's cousin's plane with the entire crew were killed during a mission with the 490th on this date. How would I find out which pilot or pilots claimed kills from their Me-262's on April 4, 1945 near Havelberg, Germany? Three planes from the 448th were shot down in a matter of seconds on this date including the B24 Trouble' N Mind which I have been researching a crew member of this plane (fill in co-pilot Alden J. Hershiser). I am curious as to whom the Luftwaffe pilot might have been and if he is possibly still living. Thanks for any help that you can provide. John |

Re: Research question....flak batteries and confirmed kills
Hi John
Looks likely that the victors were Fritz Muller and Rudolf Rademacher as there made the only Liberator claims, but the area in wrong Hamburg whereas Havelberg is on a direct line from Hamburg to Berlin, but much closer to Berlin. Rademacher died in 1953 and Muller in 1996. But there were plenty of B-17 claims by jets. Johannes |
