First Me 262 for KG 54?
Does anybody know when KG 54 got their first Me 262?

Should have it in the 'Tägliche Lieferungen an die Luftflotten' documents, these 'special' aircraft seem to pop up in the admendments there. Will get back to you. Regards, Andreas B

Ahhh... but I have seen the holy grail! And it is painted RLM 76 all over with a large Mickey Mouse on the side, there is a familiar pilot in front of it and it has an Erla Haube!

Hi.
According to the information from the source mentioned above, the first Me 262 allocated to KG 54 is listed for 22.09.1944. Five more is listed for September 23rd. The 'Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldung' for the unit also state that I. Gruppe got 5 Me 262's in September 1944. So the first ones delivered must have been sometime between 22nd September and the end of September. Regards, Andreas B

Maybe of interest - the next allocation to KG 54 was on October 26th 1944, this one allocated to III./KG 54 specifically. Then: 30.10.1944 1 Me 262 A-2 III./K.G.54 31.10.1944 1 Me 262 A-2 III./K.G.54 08.11.1944 2 Me 262 A-2 I./K.G.54 16.11.1944 2 Me 262 A-2 II./K.G.54 23.11.1944 2 Me 262 A-2 I./K.G.54 26.11.1944 2 Me 262 A-2 I./K.G.54 and so on... Not that these entries are the aircraft delivered from the industry, additional aircraft could of course be transferred from other units also. Regards, Andreas B

Thanks a bunch for the info. I have been working through the Me 262 operational with KG 51 and sometimes there is a conflict since both units were based at Giebelstadt. This will certainly help in the matter.

Hi,
The first metion of Me262 with KG 54(J) I have found in ULTRA intercepts is 1 MAR 1945 when the unit is based on Giebelstadt, but according to Michael Holm both KG 51 and 54 were equipped with the Me262 much earlier. Please see: http://www.ww2.dk/air/kampf.html bregds SES
