Heinz Knoke : "I Flew for the Führer"

Here the links to the movie I made of Heinz Knoke : "I Flew for the Führer"

In this movie 3 different ways of how the Luftwaffe attacked the bomber formations are shown.

Part1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRWPsf9-y3I
Part2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9DplgzkrCo
Some screenshots of the movie:

Re: Heinz Knoke : "I Flew for the Führer"

Thanks all for the comments.

Some interesting facts on the attack by Knoke on the Liberator of 26 Feb 1943:

· It was the first Liberator to be shot down on German soil.
· The passenger journalist killed in this incident was a famous employee of The New York Times (Robert Post) who also interviewed Roosevelt at some stage.
· The dog-tag of the tail gunner flying with the B-24 (Maisie) on its doomed flight was found in 2008 on the farm where it was downed. A US historian (Jim Hamilton), who wrote a book relating to this incident, arranged the return of this dog-tag to the family. Jim also helped me with correct historical information on the movie.

Yes, next project will be on Pat Pattle, unrecognized top ww2 RAF fighter pilot ace. Very good book written on the life of Pattle.

Re: Heinz Knoke : "I Flew for the Führer"

very good .. I've embedded this on my Luftwaffe blog !

Knoke's memoir 'Die Große Jagd' ( 'I flew for the Führer' in English !) first appeared in the 1950's IIRC. Whoever has the rights should consider offering a new updated translation.....

Re: Heinz Knoke : "I Flew for the Führer"

I can only concur! Excellent work, it gives really a gripping account of what happened way back in 1943.
