![]() Hello,
I seek any information of a B-25 Michell II fell to Rugles (Normandy) on 16/17 August 1944 to 23:00. Two crew members died in the crash. Buried near a wood, they were exhumed after the war. Where can I find a list of losses Mitchel II for that date? Thank you for your help. |

Re: Crash B-25 Mitchell II Normandie
According to the book "2 Group R.A.F - A Complete History, 1936-1945" by M.J.F. Boyer, three Mitchells went missing on the night of the 17th. See pages 385 & 386.

Re: Crash B-25 Mitchell II Normandie
Hi,
According to the excellent book "2nd Tactical Air Force" by Shores & Thomas, the Mitchell II MQ-J/FV989 from the 226 Sqn crashed on 18/8/44 at 03.00 h. Two airmen were killed : F/Sgt Brett and F/Sgt Bate; and two evaded capture : F/Sgt Sherwin and Sgt Stuart. With the name Sherwin, I think it is your aircraft. |

![]() Hello Montana
Wow! what a surprise! It's been so long that I want that but I remain cautious as you said, the name of Sherwin may be evidence. I would like to believe so! Now, we must be sure the device is well researched and know what the survivors are now and where are buried the dead! Nevertheless, I thank you for your research. You've done good work. Bravo! ![]() To be continued .... ![]() |
