Leutnant Gerhard Fischer, killed on 15.08.1944, Italy

Hi,

I'm in possession of a private photo showing Gerhard "Gerd" Fischer smiling to the photographer. He is wearing the LW tropical uniform and he also wears the Flugzeugf.abz. The photo is taken only 1 month before he died in Italy.

Pherhaps anybody could provide any further information about his unit and cause of death ??

Born : 06.07.1919
Died : 15.08.1944 (buried in Costermano, Italy)

Warmest regards,
Jagdkomm.

The plane crashed at Pieve Grumone, Cremona. We looked around abot little pieces but found nothing.

Andy Mitchell's Luftwaffedata site is the best source on FAG 122 that I know of but (after a very quick look) I don't think he has any more on this crash than we did.
