Fw. Otto Unertl 9./JG77 KIA 25-April-1941
I am currently researching Feldwebel Otto Unertl 9./JG77 KIA 25-April-1941, shot down by Flak near Nauplion, Greece.
I know that Unertl was flying a Bf-109 E-7 however, I would appreciate it if anyone could identify the Werk Nr. or even the fuselage code of the machine. Furthermore, I would like to find out if possible the details of the JG77 missions for that date. As always, any help is very well received. Regards Richard. |

Hello Aviator
The place is known and located exactly, http://maps.google.com/maps/myplaces?ll=37.576968,22.809951&spn=0.001278,0.001 808&ctz=-180&t=h&z=19 I spoke to the land owner, he was about 5-6 years old at that time an he only heard the story from his father and friends. They said that the plane was totally destructed and they found only the boots of the pilot Only this so far... |

Re: Fw. Otto Unertl 9./JG77 KIA 25-April-1941
Hello,
during my researches on JG 77, I have been in touch with Unertl's family. They had not much, but a document saying the following could be of help for you: 30.12.1941: Zur Sicherung und Erhaltung der Grabstätte Ihres gefallenen Sohnes musste eine Umbettung vorgenommen werden. Das Grab befindet sich nicht mehr bei Nauplion an der Strasse nach Argos (thus probably where he crashed and was first burried), sondern auf dem Friedhof Argos-Nord. Hope that it helps. Best regards Erik |
